Third time's a charm!

I started this blog a year and a half ago with the hopes that I would continue to publish posts of noteworthiness and explore my world through writing.  I failed to keep up with that.  However, its never too late to try again.

So here goes try number three.

In blog post "Reset 2.0 - Creation!" I talk about the need to break out from a traditional law firm mold and help others to follow there dreams.  This is something I actually have started to follow through on.  I've started my own law practice, the Mahn Law Group (http://mahnlawgroup.com/) and have already help friends to start their own businesses as well.  I hope to be able to continue to use this blog as a forum to explore my practice as well as the world around me.

Mojave Daze

Two awesome friends of mine, Sarah and Johnny, have just launched their T-Shirt Design/Distribution business, "Mojave Daze".  (Love that name!)  I recently met Sarah and Johnny on my trip to Nicaragua last November for a mutual friend's wedding.  (That's a blog post for another time!)  We all got a long fabulously and I have just found out that they are starting their own business.  I think there's something in the air this new year.

With the launch of their new business they have designed t-shirts for the upcoming Super Bowl between the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens.  While I don't have a horse in this race as my beloved Redskins were knocked out in the first playoff game, I do love football and the Super Bowl is a great time for friends and family no matter who you are rooting for.  Whether you are a 49er or a Raven or simply just love the Super Bowl, why not check out their offerings?  If you're in need of gear to support your team on February 3rd, these t-shirts are perfect.  Not only that, but by buying from Mojave Daze you are helping support local Los Angeles artists.  Who doesn't love that?!?

Feel free to check out their facebook page as well and give them a "like" :)

Cheers!

Reset 2.0 - Creation!

I have some pretty amazing friends who are now trying to follow their dreams and start their own businesses to share with the world what they love.  Some are creating art, products or sharing knowledge.  Its pretty exciting and super inspirational for me.

I too want to follow my dreams which I'm discovering more and more to be helping others.  Helping others was my main reason for going to law school and becoming an Attorney.  However, I'm realizing that simply being an Attorney at a traditional law firm isn't enough for me.  The firm I currently work at is a traditional small firm and most of my work comes in the form of business litigation, formation, corporate transactions and employment based immigration.  While much of what I do does help my clients, I would like to expand on this.  Many times litigation causes more problems than it solves and doesn't address the true nature of the matter at hand.  I'd like to use my skills and knowledge as an Attorney to break out of the traditional law firm mold and provide a more holistic service.

I want to help to create businesses, solve problems and connect people.  I'd like this blog to be a platform to help showcase these efforts.  With that in mind, I'd like to start by sharing with you some of what the people in my life are doing to live their lives to the fullest and in the process help them to get off the ground.

Cheers!

Think Different

Yesterday when I found out that Steve Jobs had passed away, I cried.  This reaction took me completely by surprise considering how much I disliked Apple products.  It took the deluge of posts, articles, quotes, and videos hitting me from all sides on the interwebs to realize why I cried.  Steve Jobs impact on my personal life and the world at large was so much more than "Apple products."  And I intuitively knew this.  I read articles and tweets from Middle Easterners accrediting Steve Jobs and the iphone with helping to facilitate the Arab Spring revolutions.  I've read blogs from techies and competitors of Steve talking about his passion, focus, and vision.  Here was a man who didn't just think different, but he acted on this.  He took risks.  He failed and yet took more risks.  He believed in himself.  He trusted himself.  If you have 15 minutes to space I suggest watching his Stanford Commencement speech.  Its a true inspiration.  My favorite quote from this speech is near the end when he talks about living each day as if its his last.  Every night he asks himself if that day was his last would he be satisfied and when the nos were too frequent he knew that it was time to change something. He truly was a man who lived without regret.  And while his passing happened too soon and is a great loss for us left behind, its a comfort to know that he really did LIVE.

‎"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma-- which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary." - Steve Jobs

Dance Like No One Is Watching

I've been meaning to start a new blog for a while now wherein I post about all the amazing, wonderful stuff human beings are doing throughout the world.  What better first post than this beautiful video of this man dancing all over the world in different locations? I'm a big fan of both dancing and traveling, so I'm very envious of what Ki'une has done here.  I believe both are good for the soul. Enjoy!!
